Cash Contributions
UQ contributions: Central cash
Requests for central cash contributions should come through the Research Office. The earlier you can prepare your proposal and advise the Research Office the better. It can take some time obtain a response from the relevant approver.
When requesting a central cash contribution, consider the following.
Strategic considerations including, but not limited to:
- Alignment to University Impact Themes
- Development of key research partnerships e.g., with other universities, Government, industry etc.
Financial considerations including, but not limited to:
- Requirement for co-investment in the scheme guidelines
- Total bid size
- Contributions from other participating organisations or partners
- Proportion of funding to be retained by UQ (for lead) or received (for non-lead)
- Return on Investment
- Level of School/Faculty/Institute co-contribution
- Planned distribution of funds between internal UQ collaborating areas
The Research Office will require the following supporting information to progress a request for consideration:
- Details of the points above
- A fully signed Funding Application Coversheet
- Written endorsement (e.g. email) by the appropriate financial delegate for any local (School/Centre/Faculty/Institute) cash
- A copy of the draft application or proposal (if available) or a summary of the proposed research
- Completed UQ Costing and Pricing Tool (if required by UQ Policy)
Some strategic rounds may have a UQ Central cash support package for all applications in the round. If this is available, it will be outlined on the scheme website.
UQ contributions: Other cash
If your Faculty/Institute/School/Centre is making a cash or in-kind contribution towards your application, the Research Office will require written evidence from the relevant budget holder of the committed funds prior to submission.
Partner cash contributions
If the funder requires cash contributions from project partners, start these conversations as early as possible – particularly if these are industry partners, commercial partners, or international partners.
If Partner contributions are a requirement to determine eligibility for a central cash requirement, the Research Office will need written evidence from the relevant budget holder/financial delegate of the committed funds.
