The fifth UQ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research and Innovation Forum marks a pivotal moment in UQ’s ongoing commitment to Indigenous research leadership and engagement.

With the launch of the Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan 2025-2027 and the final year of implementation of UQ’s inaugural Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research and Innovation Strategy 2021-2025, this year’s forum provides an opportunity to reflect on progress and the work UQ has done to Indigenise its research endeavour. It is also a time to re-centre our shared vision and reaffirm our commitment to meaningful change.

This Forum calls for a renewed focus on decolonising research and education–integrating Indigenous epistemologies and methodologies, promoting Indigenous-led knowledge creation, and supporting ethical engagement with communities. It also highlights the importance of fostering stronger pathways for Indigenous students and early-career researchers, and recognising Indigenous knowledge as central to addressing contemporary global challenges.

Join us for this important panel discussion and hear from leading voices in the field.
