Research Systems

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) portfolio develops and provides support to a number of systems used throughout the research management lifecycle. This includes storing and managing your data, applying for ethical approval, accessing research facilities at UQ, sharing your data with collaborators, publishing your projects and datasets, and tracking your research impact.

Current research systems

UQ Research Data Manager (UQRDM) allows all UQ researchers to store and share active research data safely and securely with internal and external collaborators. UQRDM is also the university's thesis submission and tracking service, and integrates with the university research repository eSpace.
MyResearch Ethics delivers digital workflows for tasks associated with obtaining ethics approval for human and animal research. The system is now used for submitting and evaluation of everything from new applications to annual reporting.
The Research Infrastructure Management System (RIMS) is a centralised platform for researchers to locate infrastructure and services at a range of facilities and laboratories across several UQ locations. The RIMS platform provides a common entry point, and a consistent method for booking use of instruments and ordering related consumables and services.
UQ eSpace enhances the visibility, accessibility, and discovery of UQ’s research. Researchers can record their publications, deposit open access works, and view metrics using a personalised dashboard. As the institutional repository, UQ eSpace maintains a comprehensive scholarly works collection for central systems, including UQ Experts and Academic Portal.
Digital Research Notebooks (DRN) are provisioned through UQ Research Data Manager (UQRDM), and offer a mobile, connected and secure alternative to paper-based notebooks. DRN can be used to document all aspects of research.
Impact Tracker is an easy-to-use platform to help plan, capture, and report on research impact and engagement. The platform helps researchers to collect, store, and organise evidence of all types of impact and engagement activities. Impact Tracker projects can be created inside Impact Tracker or via UQRDM.

Research Systems Training Hub

The Research Systems Training Hub provides resources for researchers and ethics committee members in how to use the system. This includes how to apply for animal or human ethics approvals and manage your approved projects.
