Language Data Commons of Australia: Growing a mature research infrastructure ecosystem in HASS - In-person event
Discover how the Language Data Commons of Australia (LDaCA) is contributing to a broader Research Data Commons and positioning Australia internationally as a leading contributor of language collections and digital infrastructure. Launched in 2021 and now in its second investment cycle, LDaCA is making nationally significant language data available for academic and non-academic use and providing a model for ensuring continued access with appropriate community control.
This engaging panel will dive into LDaCA’s structure, purpose, and impact. It will illustrate what a mature research infrastructure project in the humanities and social sciences looks like and what sorts of research activities it supports. It will also explore the key role of Indigenous languages and community co-design in the project, LDaCA’s collaboration with GLAM institutions to unlock language data, and the powerful tools offered by LDaCA Analytics. You’ll also discover how researchers are empowered through innovative methods, training, and programs like the Graduate Digital Research Fellowship.
Concluding with an interactive discussion and Q&A—don’t miss your chance to join the conversation!
