Developing Secure and Resilient Systems for Queensland: Complex Critical Systems in an Era of Compounding Risk - In-person event

The Queensland Security and Resilience Summit brings together leading voices from across government, defence, critical infrastructure, cybersecurity, industry, finance, emergency services and academia to confront the defining security and resilience challenges of our time.

Anchored by the interdisciplinary expertise of the University of Queensland's Security and Resilience Research Hub, the Summit provides rare cross-sector dialogue that organisations need to navigate a world of escalating strategic competition, digital disruption, supply chain fragility, climate stress, and geopolitical uncertainty.

Queensland’s security and resilience challenge is no longer sectoral – it is systemic. This Summit focuses on interdependent systems under escalating stress:

1. Digital systems — cyber, data, platforms, digital infrastructure
2. Physical systems — critical infrastructure, climate exposure, disaster cascades
3. Organisational systems – people, processes, leadership, and governance 

The summit is designed to discuss how these systems interact, fail together, and must be governed together. 

Keynote speaker 

• General Bryan P. Fenton, (US Army Retired)

General (GEN) Fenton recently served as Commander, US Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), has previously commanded the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC), and served as deputy commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command. GEN Fenton is currently on the board of directors at USAA, a large US insurance and banking firm.
