Overview

The office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) funds health and medical research of broad reach as well as that specifically relevant to military health. For example, amongst the largest CDMRP funded programs are the Breast Cancer Research Program and Prostate Cancer Research Program. Information on the research areas funded and the open funding programs can be found on the CDMRP website.

A list of currently open and prospective programs is available below.

The DOD CDMRP website has a range of webinar recordings, including a general introduction to the programs.

If you are interested in talking to someone about CDMRP, would like more information about a particular Program, or are intending to submit an application, please feel free to contact us through the light-touch form below. We will respond to any questions you ask. Intentions to apply will be treated as UQ NOIs, collated centrally, and distributed to Faculties and Institutes to maximise support to the UQ research community.

How to apply

Step 1. Scheme reading

  • General introductions to the various Research Programs are available on the CDMRP website.
  • Program announcements and Applicaion Instructions are available for open Programs on the CDMRP Funding Opportunities page.
  • Specialists in the Research Office are available to help with aligning the proposal and selecting the most appropriate Funding Mechanism.

Step 2. Completing the application

  • CDMRP applications are a two-stage process. The first stage will take the form of either a Preproposal or a Letter of Intent: A Preproposal is an assessed submission and applicants may or may not be invited to full application; a LOI is equivalent to something like NHMRC minimum data and full application follows without any communication from the funder.
  • Both Preproposals and Letters of Intent are submitted through the Department of Defense Electronic Biomedical Research Application Portal (eBRAP).
  • If you do not already have an eBRAP account, the Research Office can assist in creating a profile and having it registered.

Step 3. Research Office internal review and feedback

Step 4. Final submission

  • The UQ Research Office will work with applicants at both pre-application and full application stages to submit the application through the relevant portal.
