Discover how researchers at The University of Queensland are advancing more sustainable approaches to resource extraction and processing through a guided tour of the Sustainable Minerals Institute’s (SMI) Indooroopilly research facilities, including the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC) and the WH Bryan Mining and Geology Research Centre (BRC).

Participants will explore a range of world-class laboratories and pilot-scale facilities, gaining insights into innovative technologies supporting the sustainable extraction and processing of mineral resources. The tour also provides an opportunity to engage directly with researchers working to address key sustainability challenges facing the resources sector.

Sessions

Each session follows the same format:

  • Transfer from St Lucia (Building 47A) to Indooroopilly
  • Arrival and induction
  • Overview of research at Indooroopilly (presentation)
  • Guided tour of research laboratories and pilot-scale facilities
  • Q&A and wrap-up discussion
  • Return transfer to St Lucia (Building 47A)

Session times

  • Session 1: 09:05–10:55
  • Session 2: 11:05–12:55
  • Session 3: 13:05–14:55

Transport will be available to and from the Indooroopilly campus, departing from St Lucia. The mini bus will leave from the Sir James Foots Building 47A, corner of Staff House Road and College Road.

Capacity is limited to 15 participants per session. Registration is essential.
