Applying for funding
UQ researchers are required by UQ policy to submit applications for any research proposal through the RO. The Research Office, which works closely with Faculties and Institutes to support research endeavours.
For HDR students applying for external research training scholarships, the UQ Graduate School will be able to assist you.
All applications for research funding at UQ must be accompanied by a UQ Funding Application Certification form.
Download the UQ Funding Application Certification form (DOTX, 71.1 KB)
This is a general framework for Chief Investigators applying for research grants. Your School/Centre/Institute may also have their own internal application processes.
8. Review for eligibility, compliance and support
Once your application is ready, and approved by your Head of School/Director (including the FAC), the Research Office will review your application for eligibility and compliance and support the submission of your grant application to the funding body.
Research Office Deadlines
The RO’s compliance close date for all grant applications is 10 working days before the external deadline unless:
- It is a high-volume scheme,
- It has strategic importance and will receive RO grantcraft support, or
- The funder has a minimum data requirement of more than 10 working days before its closing date
In such cases, the RO compliance close date may be up to 4 weeks before the funder deadline.
If unsure whether this applies to any other schemes, please contact the relevant Research Office Pre-Award Team.
