Transition of Pre-Award certification into MyResearch Projects​

What is MyResearch Projects?

MyResearch Projects is UQ’s research management system for Research Grants, Research Consultancy, Contract Research and Non-funded Research Agreements. MyResearch Projects supports researchers and the university undertake research administration and management for:

• Online funding application certifications of grant applications and progression to the Research Office for grant application review; grant acceptance, award establishment, institutional reporting and close-out

• Online contract research and research consultancy application certification and facilitation of agreement negotiation and execution, institutional milestones where relevant, and close-out

• Online certification and activation of non-funded research agreements (e.g. confidentiality disclosure and material transfer agreements).

Research Grants is now transitioning to MyResearch Projects, commencing with a sequenced approach for competitive research grant applications.

Transition of competititve grants Pre-award Research Grants Funding Application Certification into MyResearch Projects​ 

What changes and what stays the same? 

• The Funding Application Certification is submitted, considered, and approved through the MyResearch system, instead of through a Word Document 

• MyResearch does not replace broader grantor/university requirements​ 

• Notices of Intent and Research Office grant craft, eligibility and compliance reviews will continue to occur outside the system​ 

• Submitting the Funding Application Certification through MyResearch does not replace submitting a grant to the funder through their systems​ 

A sequenced rollout is planned intentionally to:​ 

1. Reduce pressure for the research community (researchers, research professionals, Heads of Units)​ 

2. Reduce pressure for the Research Office, the RMS HelpDesk and the MyResearch Project team​ 

Which schemes are transitioning? 

Below is the current list of schemes that will run through MyResearch as part of the transition. Please note, this list may expand as the transition progresses.

How to access and complete a Certification in MyResearch 

• Log in here: Welcome - MyResearch Portal 

• Use the “UQ Staff and Students Sign In” button 

• On the right-hand side of the home screen, you will see a heading for “Projects” with an “Apply now” button 

• Click the apply now button 

• Add your application title  

• Click “Done”  this will take you to the form to complete  

• Select “Competitive Research Grant” 

• Select your round from the drop down and fill in the form 

• Any staff member can fill in the form, but only the lead CI can certify and submit. If you are beginning the form on behalf of the CI, please ensure you find their UQ HR record (rather than adding them using the free text option) as the free text option will not route the certification to them. If you are having trouble finding your CI, please contact the MyResearch help desk - my-research-help@uq.edu.au 

• Once the lead CI certifies and submits, the certification form will route to local research support and Head of Department for review 

• Please note, submission of the Funding Application Certification form does not trigger Research Office review of your application – you will need to email the relevant Pre-Award team to initiate review 

Please be aware that your local unit might have specific preferences about when you should fill out this form during the application process, and they may also require certain attachments. 

Changes to the Certification form after CI submission to Head of Department 

While completing the form, please aim for accuracy. However, note that the project details provided are indicative, we understand that changes may arise during drafting or funder review.  

If amendments are required after submission of the certification form, your Head of Department will need to return the form to you. To avoid unnecessary delays, please minimise changes after certification and submission wherever possible.
