Other RMBT activities and projects
See below to read about a range of current activities that RMBT facilitates to support UQ’s research community.
AIATSIS Ethics eLearning modules
A joint initiative between UQ, the University of Sydney and the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS), the eLearning module will play an important part in educating researchers about their responsibilities when undertaking Indigenous research. Based on the AIATSIS Code of Ethics and Implementation Guide, the module raises awareness and promotes best practice in Indigenous research. The project will deliver the modules to the UQ Research Community by mid-2022.

Change and training
The digital transformation delivered by RMBT leverages technology to support, empower and enable the UQ Research Community to carry out the business of research in an effective, compliant and efficient manner. Successful implementation of these modern business systems is heavily influenced by the people involved. In recognition of this important factor, dedicated implementation support specialists and skilled trainers work with the leadership, stakeholders, project teams, researchers and business areas to ensure a smooth transition and positive uptake for the systems being deployed. - Business requirements for the animal records management investigation have been documented and are awaiting confirmation from stakeholders.
- Initial business problem definition has been documented for the Lab inventory (biological sample system).
User experience
The importance of designing systems from the user perspective has been recognised by approval to appoint a UX specialist throughout 2021/22. This role supports RMBT projects to ensure new system interfaces are user friendly and informative and provide a consistent experience for UQ researchers using the systems to create a sense of familiarity across all UQ research systems.
Current activities - May 2022
- The UX specialist has been refining functionality within UQRDM as well as reviewing guides, forms and the support hub for RIMS and MyResearch.
ITS resource
To align with the wider IT strategies to ensure streamlined solutions which reduce redundancy, improve cost efficiencies and capital investments, and minimise risk to the University’s information systems, RMBT projects are connected to central UQ systems by providing funding for a dedicated person within the ITS Integration team. This role is responsible for linking RMBT research systems to the relevant wider University systems which ultimately provides access to key information and ensures researchers have the right information where and when they need it regardless of the interface.
