UQ researchers are required by UQ policy to submit applications for any research proposal through the RO. The Research Office, which works closely with Faculties and Institutes to support research endeavours.

For HDR students applying for external research training scholarships, the UQ Graduate School will be able to assist you.

All applications for research funding at UQ must be accompanied by a UQ Funding Application Certification form.

Download the UQ Funding Application Certification form (DOTX, 71.1 KB)

This is a general framework for Chief Investigators applying for research grants. Your School/Centre/Institute may also have their own internal application processes.

A flow chart that visually represents the steps of process of applying for funding with decorative icons to represent each step. These steps are, in order from first to last, eligibility, deadlines, inform, prepare, letter of support?, prepare budget, approval, send to RO, and submit.

4. Prepare your proposal

You should start preparing your proposal as soon as possible. While you're preparing your proposal, you should also consider:

  • Whether there are any risks associated with your project and how you are going to mitigate them
  • Ensuring your proposal is priced correctly

This is important for your proposal’s feasibility, ensuring your proposal is within UQ’s risk appetite, that you have enough funding to undertake the project in line with the full cost of doing research at UQ.
