We are looking for outstanding researchers to join The University of Queensland’s Health Research Accelerator (HERA) programs of research and innovation.

We are investing $50 million over the next seven years in this innovative and truly synergistic initiative to solve the most pressing health and medical research challenges of our time.  This multidisciplinary approach will nurture different perspectives, synergistic capabilities, and embrace diversity to achieve more collectively than what could be accomplished within a traditional research model.

HERA Programs of Research and Innovation

UQ is a world-leading, research-intensive university that excels across the pipeline of research and innovation: from discovery, through application, demonstration and deployment of research. HERA will leverage the breadth and depth of our health and medical research capabilities at UQ and across Queensland and through the current recruitment process, will attract talented researchers with the additional capabilities required to have greater impact on the health and wellbeing of societies.

By connecting the right mix of researchers, partners and end-users within each Program, and providing the scaffolding needed to succeed at pace, HERA will create an environment where the potential for innovation and change is limitless.

Through seven HERA Programs of Research and Innovation UQ will address global health and medical challenges.

  • Health Workforce Optimisation: Reimagining Skills Mix and Scopes of Practice for Equity, Access  
  • The 360-Kids Community network to support children with neurodevelopmental challenges
  • ULTRA Program (The University of Queensland’s cLinical Trials cApability)
  • Groups and Relationships to Optimise Wellbeing and HealTH (GROWTH): A public health solution for prevention and management of loneliness
  • Operational Research and Decision Support for Prevention, Control and Elimination of Infectious Diseases
  • Queensland Digital Health Centre
  • Development of mRNA vaccines
