Overview
The Ian Potter Foundation (IPF) Health – Medical Research Program aims to support the provision of equipment and capital infrastructure to support outstanding medical research groups. Grants of over $100,000 are provided through this program. Projects must not be suitable for funding through a Government agency (e.g. ARC or NHMRC).
As the IPF is unlikely to fund the project in entirety, evidence of collaboration within and outside of UQ is strongly encouraged.
Enquiries on research infrastructure acquisitions or coordination should be directed to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research Infrastructure), Professor Alan Rowan, at pvcri@research.uq.edu.au.
How to apply
Expressions of Interest
As UQ can submit a maximum of one application, a mandatory internal Expression of Interest (EOI) will be run to select the applications most closely aligned with the core scheme requirements.
Please submit your EOI by the internal EOI close of 1 May 2025. The online form will be available soon.
Full applications
Following the EOI process, the endorsed UQ applicant will prepare a full proposal:
Step 1: Project preparation
- Create an account in the Ian Potter Foundation online portal.
- Familiarise yourself with the key IPF scheme documentation.
Step 2: Completing the application
Complete the application via the Ian Potter Foundation online portal.
Step 3: UQ R&I internal review and feedback
- To initiate review, email your completed UQ Funding Application Coversheet (FAC) (DOTX, 70.6 KB), proposal, and draft attachments to UQ R&I at IndustryGrants@research.uq.edu.au.
- Provide your Letter of Support and Certification Form for institutional signing. The Research Office will organise this once your application has been reviewed and a completed FAC received.
- Internal review by UQ R&I/feedback provided (compliance/eligibility/grantsmanship).
