Key dates for Snow Fellowships 2025
- Proposals open with Snow Medical: 31 March 2025
- Please submit the Internal Expressions of Interest (EOI) form and CV to your Faculty/Institute: Deadlines are determined locally to support EOI form preparation
- Faculty/Institute Shortlisted EOIs due to UQ Research Office: 23 April 2025
- UQ Shortlisted EOIs due to UQ Research Office: 12 May 2025
- UQ Shortlisted EOIs due to Snow Medical: 22 May 2025
Overview
The Snow Fellowships target emerging global research leaders who demonstrate the potential to drive, manage and influence the next generation of health and medical innovation. Up to $8 million over eight years is provided to support outstanding mid-career researchers in establishing high-impact, multidisciplinary biomedical research programs. Open to mid-career candidates across medicine, science, and bioengineering, the scheme funds lab setup, salaries, project costs, and leadership development. Applications from researchers relocating or returning to Australia from overseas are encouraged.
How to apply
1) Expression of Interest (EOI) process
The 2025 Fellowship round consists of a three-stage process - EOI, invitation to submit a full application and, for successful applicants at the full application stage, an invitation to attend an interview with the Snow Medical Scientific Research and Assessment Committee.
Step 1: Complete the UQ Expression of Interest form
- Familiarise yourself with the key Snow Medical and UQ documentation.
- Complete the UQ Internal EOI form and full CV and submit it to your Faculty or Institute.
Step 2: Internal review and ranking
- UQ EOIs will be reviewed and shortlisted by Faculty/Institute panels and submitted to UQ R&I.
- UQ EOIs will be reviewed and shortlisted by UQ R&I central panel.
- Applicants will be advised of internal review outcomes.
Step 3: Complete Snow Medical Expression of Interest form
- Shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete the Snow Medical EOI form.
- UQ R&I will provide review and feedback.
Step 4: Final submission
- Completed Snow Medical EOIs will be submitted to Snow Medical by UQ R&I.
2) Full Application process
Snow Medical will notify applicants of the EOI outcomes and invite successful applicants to submit full applications in early August. Review of full applications are due to UQ R&I by 4 September 2025. Full applications are due to Snow Medical on 2 October 2025.
3) Interview process
Snow Medical will notify applicants of full application outcomes and invite successful applicants to interview in early December 2025. Applicants will be interviewed in early February 2026. Fellowships will be publicly announced in late March 2026.
