Applying for approvals
Approvals involving the use of animals must be obtained before commencing work. Find out if you need approval.
The University has a mechanism to allow for the immediate use of animals for the diagnosis of unexplained and severe disease outbreaks, or morbidity/mortality, in animals or people. In such circumstances you are asked to contact Animal Ethics for an expedited review.
Research, Teaching & Breeding applications
To apply for ethical approval to use animals in research, teaching or breeding at UQ login to MyResearch and complete the application form.
Self-help resources to support the use of the new MyResearch system are available from https://systems-training.its.uq.edu.au/myresearch.
Permits
Information regarding the requirements for other permits or documentation must be appropriately addressed in your ethics application (e.g. working with wildlife, GMOs, radioactivity etc.). Issued permits can only be used if they have been issued to you, in your name, or if you have written approval from the permit holder to use their permit for your project. This approval must be provided to the AEC at the time of consideration.
Individuals undertaking Research or Teaching in the Northern Territory must each complete an NT Individual Permit (DOCX, 42.6 KB) and attach this to the ethics application. Work in the Northern Territory cannot commence until an individual permit has been signed by the AEC Chair and a copy returned to you for your records.
